On Point-Based Temporal Disjointness

چکیده
We address the problems of determining consistency and of nding a solution for sets of 3-point relations expressing exclusion of a point from an interval, and for sets of 4-point relations expressing interval dis-jointness. Availability of these relations is an important requirement for dealing with the sorts of temporal constraints encountered in many AI applications such as plan reasoning. We prove that consistency testing is NP-complete and nding a solution is NP-hard.

The Temporal Reasoning Systems
We describe two domain-independent temporal reasoning systems called TimeGraph I and II which can be used in AI-applications as tools for eeciently managing large sets of relations in the Point Algebra, in the Interval Algebra, and metric information such as absolute times and durations. Our representation of time is based on timegraphs, graphs partitioned into a set of chains on which the sear...
متن کاملMonophonic Instrument Sound Segregation by Clustering NMF Components Based on Basis Similarity and Gain Disjointness
This paper discusses a method for monophonic instrument sound separation based on nonnegative matrix factoriza-tion (NMF). In general, it is not easy to classify NMF components into each instrument. By contrast, monophonic instrument sound gives us an important clue to classify them, because no more than one sound would be activated simultaneously. Our approach is to classify NMF components int...
متن کاملEfficient Algorithms for Qualitative Reasoning about Time
Reasoning about temporal information is an important task in many areas of Artiicial Intelligence. In this paper we address the problem of scal-ability in temporal reasoning by providing a collection of new algorithms for eeciently managing large sets of qualitative temporal relations. We focus on the class of relations forming the Point Algebra (PA-relations) and on a major extension to includ...
متن کاملDual-time-point FDG-PET/CT Imaging of Temporal Bone Chondroblastoma: A Report of Two Cases
Temporal bone chondroblastoma is an extremely rare benign bone tumor. We encountered two cases showing similar imaging findings on computed tomography (CT), magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), and dual-time-point 18F-fluorodeoxyglucose (18F-FDG) positron emission tomography (PET)/CT. In both cases, CT images revealed temporal bone defects and sclerotic changes around the tumor. Most parts of the ...
متن کاملSpatio-temporal analysis of the covid-19 impacts on the using Chicago urban shared bicycles by tensor-based approach
Cycling is a phenomenon in urban transportation that has the ability to allocate a specific location at any moment in time. Accordingly, spatial analysis of bicycle trips can be accompanied by temporal analysis. The use of a GIS environment is commonly recommended to display the extent of the phenomenon's spatial changes. However, in order to apply and display changes over time, it will requir...
